Journalism school suspends entrance exam to boost enrollment

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas journalism school used the test to admit only the best aspiring journalism and media studies students so the school could gain higher prestige and accreditation, but it's resulted in lower enrollment. The exam is being suspended for a few years.

    From 1999 to 2011, Jim Romenesko maintained the Romenesko page for the Poynter Institute, a Florida-based non-profit school for journalists. Poynter hired him in August of 1999, after seeing his MediaGossip.com, a hobby site he started in May of 1999.
