Mediagazer

Media news aggregation site Mediagazer is reaching out on Twitter for news tips, promising a “hat tip” for being the first to alert the site to a story.

Site editor Megan McCarthy wrote on Monday that the technique has been used on Mediagazer’s sister site Techmeme for almost two years:

“If you come across a story you think ought to be on the site, include the phrase “tip @mediagazer” (in that order) along with the URL of the story in your tweet. If you are the first tipper for that particular story, we will credit your Twitter ID on Mediagazer, with “thanks: @username” underneath the headline of the story.”
