Michael Bloomberg returns to his media empire

New York Times

Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is returning to run Bloomberg LP, a financial data and media company, according to a report in the New York Times.

Chief Executive Dan Doctoroff will step down at the end of the year to make room for Bloomberg.

Bloomberg’s term as mayor ended eight months ago and he was expected to dedicate his energy to philanthropic issues, specifically gun control. But he apparently couldn’t stay away from the company he founded, coming in for a few meetings and then staying for longer, according to the Times article. Eventually, he wanted to call the shots at the company that he owns 88 percent of and Doctoroff agreed to step aside.
