Nick Bilton reports that Facebook members are now uploading 20 million videos per month in a trend the company attributes to the increased use of mobile devices. Overall, the service streams two billion videos each month.

“Josh Wiseman, an engineering manager at Facebook, said the company had seen a steady rise in video views across the Web because of the rise in video-ready mobile smartphones. ‘Video traffic has grown over the past year as more people upload video directly from their mobile phone,’ he said.”

Bilton writes that Facebook simplified its site in July and August of last year to allow both e-mail and iPhone app uploads of video clips.
