New Yorker sent Scientologists 971 fact-checking queries

The magazine assigned five fact-checkers to Lawrence Wright's "Leaving Scientology" story. The journalist and a team from the New Yorker met for eight hours with four Church of Scientology lawyers and others to discuss the facts in the piece.
