NYT's Eichenwald, Spokesman-Review win Payne Awards

UO School of Journalism and Communication

The Spokesman-Review receives the 2006 Payne Award for Ethics in Journalism for its "deliberate reporting process" in its investigation of Spokane Mayor Jim West. Times reporter Kurt Eichenwald receives the individual award for "preserving the editorial integrity of an important story while reaching out to assist his source, Justin Berry, in reporting on Berry’s involvement in child pornography."

  • Jim Romenesko

    From 1999 to 2011, Jim Romenesko maintained the Romenesko page for the Poynter Institute, a Florida-based non-profit school for journalists. Poynter hired him in August of 1999, after seeing his MediaGossip.com, a hobby site he started in May of 1999.
