One college paper tried to pick a Twitter fight with another college paper. It was nerdy in the most journalism kind of way.

On Wednesday, two California journalism schools offered a nice break from another breathless week in the news.

It wasn't through great storytelling, though, or flashy graphics.

They did it with a good old Twitter fight.

Technically, The Stanford Daily started it with some shade ahead of a big annual game between the two (the winner gets an actual axe.)

But The Daily Californian, the student newspaper at the University of California, Berkeley, was ready.

A back and forth followed that will only make sense if you follow both those teams, but then it looks like The Daily Californian had enough.

Fun fact: These two newspapers literally play against each other in flag football.

The Berkeley newsroom took a few shots at the Stanford newsroom. But this one is possibly the best.

No, this is no Wendy's vs. Wingstop Twitter rap battle. It's also not BuzzFeed and The Daily Caller vs. CNN Twitter fruit video one-ups. But when your Tweetdeck is flooded with a very odd moment at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, threats against local media and more, it's nice to take a break for some nerdy journalism shenanigans.
