Philly newspapers sale may collapse over drivers' contract

Philadelphia Media Network Inc. -- prospective new owner of the Inquirer, Daily News and Philly.com -- has a noon Tuesday deadline to close on its purchase. Without a contract agreement with the drivers, there will be no sale, says Philadelphia Media Network chief executive Gregory Osberg.

    From 1999 to 2011, Jim Romenesko maintained the Romenesko page for the Poynter Institute, a Florida-based non-profit school for journalists. Poynter hired him in August of 1999, after seeing his MediaGossip.com, a hobby site he started in May of 1999.
