Milwaukee Magazine

Milwaukee press critic Erik Gunn has been tough on PolitiFact Wisconsin in the past -- the site is run by the Journal Sentinel, and was launched by Poynter's St. Petersburg Times -- but he says it's covered the standoff in Madison "without resorting to the false equivalency that blows up a bit of sawdust in the eye of one group of partisans to match the two-by-four lodged in the eye of the other group."

From 1999 to 2011, Jim Romenesko maintained the Romenesko page for the Poynter Institute, a Florida-based non-profit school for journalists. Poynter hired him in August of 1999, after seeing his MediaGossip.com, a hobby site he started in May of 1999.
