St. Louis Post-Dispatch photographer explains controversial flag-in-trash photo

The paper has received over two dozen letters and comments about the photo. "I didn't like seeing a flag in the trash, which was why I photographed it," writes the Post-Dispatch's David Carson. "Part of me was pleased to have found the situation because I knew I could make an image that spoke about the foreclosure mess."
