Thirteen winners of George Polk Awards for 2009 announced

New York Times reporter David Rohde, a previous Polk Award winner, receives this year's foreign reporting award for "Held by the Taliban." (Here are the other winners.) The Polk Awards, administered by Long Island University, honor special achievement in journalism and commemorate George Polk, a CBS correspondent murdered while covering the Greek civil war.

  • Jim Romenesko

    From 1999 to 2011, Jim Romenesko maintained the Romenesko page for the Poynter Institute, a Florida-based non-profit school for journalists. Poynter hired him in August of 1999, after seeing his MediaGossip.com, a hobby site he started in May of 1999.
