USA Today
An updated USA Today iPad app launched in the iTunes store this morning, adding a daily crossword and customizable stock listings.

The crossword includes a number of interesting features, including a game timer and “wrong answer” indicator. The crossword can be found in the Life section, but given the popularity of the game in print, it might merit a more prominent place in the app’s navigation or even development into a standalone USA Today-branded app.

In the Money section, readers can now add a list of stocks to track within the app. Just two of the stocks are visible in horizontal mode and 6 in portrait orientation. Within the stock widget, users can view charts for any company or market ranging from one day to five years.

The iPad app was supposed to be free through July 4, 2010 as part of a launch sponsorship, but Gannett announced in July that the app would remain free through at least September, due to continued advertiser interest.
