Marcus Brauchli is expected to step down today just 11 months after being named as Wall Street Journal managing editor. Publisher Robert Thomson may take over as interim ME, reports the Journal. Brauchli is expected to remain with News Corp. Time.com was first with the news.
> New York Times: Brauchli agreed with some of the changes made in recent months, but he questioned the shift toward general-interest news.
> Politico.com: A WSJ staffer says: “This is a clear sign that it’s over — the Dow Jones culture is dead.”
> CJR.org: WSJ’s “poor” story about Brauchli is careful not to offend Rupert Murdoch by raising the integrity questions that dogged him during his takeover fight.
> Gawker: The News Corp. chairman is clearly in no mood to slow or compromise his vision for the Journal.
