'We don't like looking stupid,' says news director who fell for man's BP tall tale

Two Twin Cities TV news shops reported that a Minnesota man had designed a cap for BP to stop oil from spilling into the gulf and that "he could stand to make millions of dollars." The St. Paul Pioneer Press did some real reporting -- it took the time to call BP -- and found the story was bogus, and that the "inventor" has a history of telling tall tales.
