About This Course

A major news event, such as a mass shooting or the tragic death of a toddler, tests reporters and their newsrooms in ways they're often not prepared to handle. There are ways journalists can prepare for a worst-case scenario — such as having a plan in place. But a better measure of success is knowing what to expect in the field and how to handle it in your social media coverage.

In this webinar, you will learn best practices for covering a major breaking news story live over social media, the equipment you should always have, things to keep an eye out for and how you can prepare yourself and your newsroom for the worst. You'll also learn what to avoid during breaking news, and the best way to tell a story digitally as updates continue to pour in.

What Will I Learn?

  • Why and how to use social media to provide updates
