Poynter brings journalism’s big names to St. Petersburg

Poynter hosts at least one Community Conversation each quarter — sometimes more — to give local residents a chance to meet and talk with journalists who cover the big stories of the day. Here’s the archive of these Poynter events:

An Evening with Kai Ryssdal, Oct. 12, 2017 — the host of NPR’s Marketplace talked about the economy, memorable moments on the air and how and why a journalist with no formal schooling in business or economics does what he does.

Our annual fundraiser, the Bowtie Ball, offers the community the chance to meet the winner of our two annual awards, the Medal for Lifetime Achievement in Journalism and the Distinguished Service to Journalism Award. The 2017 winners, announced Nov. 4, were Judy Woodruff, anchor of the PBS Newshour, and Paul Steiger, founder of ProPublica.
