Former Sacramento Bee sportswriter Jim Van Vliet, who was fired last August for watching a San Francisco Giants home game on TV instead of going to the ballpark, dropped his wrongful termination lawsuit in return for a half-year’s severance pay. Executive editor Rick Rodriguez says the same deal was offered to Van Vliet several months ago, before the suit was filed.
