Rockford Register Star
The Rockford Register Star aims to reduce its staff by 20 to 25 positions through buyouts. (The paper has 409 employees.) GateHouse Media bought the Register Star last May after 40 years of Gannett ownership. “From my years with Gannett, I am comfortable saying that, were we still owned by them, we would have had to make these cuts last year,” says publisher Fritz Jacobi.
