Sacramento News & Review | “A Letter to President Obama”
Sacramento News & Review president and majority owner Jeff vonKaenel says his heart dropped when he heard that a U.S. attorney planned to prosecute media who run medical marijuana ads. “That would be me,” he writes. “One part of my mind feared I was headed to prison.” VonKaenel’s alt-weekly recently published a 100-page special section with a directory of about 100 medical marijuana dispensaries and similar businesses. “I never would have thought the federal government would prosecute a media owner who allowed a state-sanctioned business to advertise,” writes the alt-weekly boss. “This doesn’t seem to make sense, but there’s a lot that doesn’t make sense these days.” || Read vonKaenel’s letter to the president about the crackdown on medical marijuana dispensaries.
