Joe Pompeo reports recently appointed New York Observer editor Elizabeth Spiers has changed the front-of-book Transom column to resemble its earlier incarnation as a page of short and pithy gossip items and micro-narratives. “And she’s resurrected the vibrant caricature illustrations that have been a well-loved trademark of The Observer’s front page throughout its years.”
