An insurance company paid MaineToday Media most of the money it says former CEO Richard Connor used to “pay for personal expenses, including credit card bills, a new SUV and vacation home rentals,” Tux Turkel reports.

MaineToday Media Publisher Lisa DeSisto told employees MTM will reinvest the money in the company.

“They’re wrong, and they’re lying,” Connor told Turkel.

Connor left under a cloud in October 2011, reportedly amid a flap about his expenses. The company that manages The Wilkes-Barre (Pa.) Times Leader sued Connor last May, saying he “engaged in a pattern of causing The Times Leader to him for personal use and causing The Times Leader to satisfy personal credit card charges.”
