Fishbowl NY | New York Post | New York Observer | Women’s Wear Daily

Time magazine announced several hires and promotions Monday, including boosting White House correspondent Michael Scherer to Washington bureau chief, Fishbowl NY’s Chris O’Shea writes.

The position has been held down by executive editor Michael Duffy, who has also been acting as Nation editor since 2008, the New York Post’s Keith J. Kelly adds. Ben Goldberger takes over as Nation editor covering news beyond the beltway.

Among the myriad other staffing changes, Jack Dickey, who helped break Deadspin’s Manti Te’o girlfriend hoax story, has been hired from Gawker Media to write about sports and culture.

In other media moves, The New Yorker has hired Wall Street Journal staff writer Vauhini Vara to be the site’s new business editor, reports New York Observer’s Kara Bloomgarden-Smoke. And Women’s Wear Daily’s Erik Maza says Pulitzer Prize-winning fashion critic Robin Givhan, laid off from Newsweek in December, has been hired by New York magazine  to review New York and Paris fashion lines for The Cut blog.
