Matthew Winkler, who resigned his position as editor-in-chief of Bloomberg News in December, recently spoke at a United Nations panel on media and gender about how to include the perspective of women both within the newsroom and as part of international stories.

According the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers, Winkler’s advice included knowing in advance the names of female leaders in every field of coverage, setting annual targets for increasing women in upper editorial levels, and specifically making sure that the needs of young mothers in the newsroom are addressed. The World Association of Newspapers’s full report can be read here.
