Newspapers in Missouri led Wednesday with a historic event: Gov. Eric Greitens announced his resignation Tuesday afternoon after a short tenure filled with controversy.

In January, the governor admitted to a 2015 extramarital affair with his hairdresser and was accused of threatening to blackmail the woman with a compromising photograph. The Missouri legislature was holding a special session to consider Greitens’ impeachment amid other controversies including campaign donations and his use of a self-destructing texting app.

Here’s how publications around the state presented the news in their Wednesday papers, via Newseum.
