Editor’s note: Like many academics in the spring, journalism professor Robin Hoecker of DePaul University had to drastically alter her teaching plans when her university switched to remote learning. She put together this story — a combination of her own writing and her students’ photography — to illustrate just how devastating the pandemic has been to her students and her plans.
