This advanced editing certificate contains two intensive training opportunities for experienced editors:
- Accurate, Audience-Focused Editing. This is the Poynter ACES course pack, which includes four webinars, three self-directed courses and seven assessments. It will help experienced editors apply their critical thinking skills to deeper editing. Participants will learn to isolate the essential elements of a story when cutting or curating content for different platforms and different audiences.
- ACES In-Depth Editing Online Group Seminar. This is a four-week seminar for experienced editors who want to master substantive editing. It includes live online sessions, one-on-one coaching, homework and group discussion. It takes place Feb. 12-March 12, 2021. To receive the advanced certificate, attending the live seminar is required.
These two courses bundled together form a comprehensive training program for editors and writers who want to hone their skills and edit strategically instead of just tactically. It’s developed in partnership with the editing pros from the ACES: The Society for Editing.
