Tracy Wahl has been named Executive Producer of “Morning Edition,” NPR says in a release.
Wahl has been the program’s acting EP for six months. She “drove the show’s coverage of major stories, from the Boston Marathon bombings to the NSA leaks story,” the release says. “During the same period, Morning Edition produced ambitious reporting from Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Afghanistan, Syria and Iran.”
Lynette Clemetson has been named Senior Supervising Editor at “Morning Edition,” the release says. She’ll be one of Wahl’s deputies.
In other NPR news, Mark Stencel, the organization’s managing editor for digital news, is stepping down to write a book. Senior Editor Scott Montgomery will take over his role, NPR spokesperson Anna Bross confirms to Poynter in an email.
Stencel tells Poynter in an email his book is a “Capitol Hill thriller that I started reporting on several years ago, when I was still a managing editor at Congressional Quarterly.” He’ll write the book with Eric Scott MacDicken, “my closest friend and co-author,” Stencel says, adding:
I set it aside once, when congressional reality came a little too close to the story I had in mind. But over time it had insisted on being written and I needed to make time to to do so.
