John Hatcher, Ph.D., is a journalism professor at the University of Minnesota Duluth. He received his doctorate from Syracuse University where he taught newswriting. He is the former education director for the Center for Community Journalism at SUNY Oswego. He has more than 15 years experience as a reporter, columnist and editor.
