YouTube May Soon Drop Support for Internet Explorer 6
Robin Wauters from TechCrunch reported that some Internet Explorer 6 users are seeing messages that YouTube will soon phase out support for Internet Explorer 6.
YouTube, which ranks in second place for search engine traffic after its parent Google.com, might be able to push many users over the tipping point to abandon Internet Explorer 6 and upgrade to Internet Explorer 7, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Opera or Google’s own Browser — and soon to be operating system — Chrome.
This is following a trend of designers and developers who are stepping up and just saying no to supporting Internet Explorer 6. For years, the browser has been the bane of Web developers, Web designers and security experts. Some have even created “IE Death March” sites and sarcastic “Save IE6” sites.
E-Media Tidbits contributor Ernst Poulsen reported in March about a large number of Danish and Norwegian media sites getting together to encourage users to browse with anything but Internet Explorer 6.
