Washingtonian
Longtime Post editor and writer Richard Leiby is the paper’s fourth “Reliable Source” scribe. News of his appointment shocked and puzzled some staffers, reports Harry Jaffe. He writes: “The chatter in the newsroom boiled down to this: Leiby is an excellent reporter and talented writer, but he has few sources and little experience in the social, cultural, or political circuits that feed a gossip column.” Lois Romano, the first “Reliable Source” writer, says: “Rich is a great writer and a good reporter. He’ll do a great job.”
> Leiby: “I really want the column to have a distinctive voice” (NYT/r.r.)
