BELLE VERNON (AP) – A Roman Catholic parish priest placed on administrative leave is under criminal investigation after an adult accused him of sexual misconduct about a week ago, authorities said Tuesday.

No criminal charges were filed against the Rev. John R. Cindric, who was removed from his duties at St. Sebastian Church in North Belle Vernon.

“This was not prompted by an allegation of sexual abuse involving children,” said Angela Burrows, spokeswoman for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Greensburg.

Rather, District Attorney John Peck said an adult complained of “sexual misconduct” by Cindric. That investigation is continuing, Peck said Tuesday.
