Once again, it’s time to run some of the tips readers have sent in, thus making my column-writing task easier.

  • Jon Scott Duffey of Duffey Cybercations (and Poynter seminar participant): TV4all.com/portal.htm
Broadband streaming of 250+ television services around the world. VERY enlightening if you want to get an idea of how other countries view various stories.
Sree’s note: You may need to update your video software to view some of the stations.

  • Lisa Sloniowski, information literacy librarian, University of Windsor:
    Iraq 2003: Sources of News
A site designed by myself and a colleague, with an emphasis on online alternative/independent media, and international mainstream press.
Sree’s note: A good way to compare alternative and mainstream coverage.

  • Sarah Milstein, freelance writer:
    Dictionary.reference.com/tools
Dictionary.com offers a free toolbar search thingie (much like Google’s). I’m finding it handy when Word’s thesaurus fails me (about 40 percent of the time).
Sree’s note: Sarah’s tips are always on the mark, so if she says it’s useful, that’s good enough for me.

Want to share a site you find useful? Please e-mail a SHORT tip, including your name, affiliation, city, and phone number (for verification only) to poynter@sree.net.

Sree’s Links: If you did any stories about South Asians in North America or about South Asia, you’ll want to enter the annual SAJA Journalism Awards. DEADLINE: April 21!
