Time editors prepared a Person of the Year cover commemorating the partnership between George Bush and Dick Cheney, but it fell through after the White House refused to give the magazine access for such a presentation, reports Erik Wemple. He’s told Bush aides preferred the president appear alone on the cover. Time managing editor Jim Kelly says the Bush administration’s protests over a Bush-Cheney cover didn’t determine the POY choice.
