“I still love this place, but I don’t love the conditions I have to work in,” says Knight Ridder Baghdad bureau chief Hannah Allam, who will be leaving Iraq in September. “I think I have tried to do all I could. I don’t really have a life outside of work here.” She hopes to open KR’s Cairo bureau in January.
