Businessweek
Amy Thomson reports that voice-over-Internet-protocol provider Vonage is planning an iPad app and is looking at mobile devices as a path to profitability. Vonage already has an app for the iPhone and iPod Touch and Android phones, and is best known as a leading provider of landline-replacing home-based VOIP services.

” ‘The inherent risk, though, is how long does our industry need standalone voice-over-IP providers. More and more people are cutting their landline,’ said Zeus Kerravala, an analyst at Yankee Group in Boston. ‘There is a risk that they’re going to run out of steam.’ “

This move minimizes that risk for Vonage.
