It was disclosed in the 14th paragraph of a Sunday story (“Mortenson downplays critics, stresses future plans”) that Karin Ronnow is no longer Bozeman Daily Chronicle assistant managing editor. Since 2007, she’s been reporting on Greg Mortenson and his Central Asia Institute (CAI) for the newspaper, and writing CAI’s annual publication. Daily Chronicle managing editor Nick Ehli tells me that Ronnow’s departure after 15 years at the paper was “a mutual decision” and that it was related to her work with CAI “in a roundabout way, I guess.” Her CAI side job “was never a secret,” he says. “She probably knows more about Greg Mortenson than any other reporter in the country.” Ronnow couldn’t be reached; she’s in Pakistan for a month, says CAI.
