Chris Vazquez is a journalist producing social video at The Marshall Project, a nonprofit newsroom covering U.S. criminal justice. He’s passionate about innovating new reporting formats for short-form video, using video platforms to directly respond to audience needs, and coverage of and for marginalized communities as a queer Latino journalist. Previously, Chris worked on The Washington Post’s TikTok team and participated in the YouTube Creator Program for Independent Journalists. Before that, he worked at The New York Times Student Journalism Institute, The Texas Tribune and Retro Report. He earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.
